Code of Conduct
The Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival and Foundation (GCUFF) is dedicated to fostering a vibrant cultural and educational experience through cinema, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone involved. Our Code of Conduct applies universally to staff, interns, volunteers, filmmakers, sponsors, and attendees engaged in any festival activity, whether in-person or digital. We uphold a zero-tolerance stance against harassment and discrimination, affirming our commitment to inclusivity across all operations, including recruitment and festival participation. Everyone is expected to contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, free from behaviors such as harassment, intimidation, illegal substance use, inappropriate consumption of alcohol, weapon carriage, indecent exposure, disruptive or damaging actions, and disrespect towards festival venues and attendees.

Participants agree to respect venue neighbors, adhere to event access rules, comply promptly with staff instructions, and maintain decorum during screenings to ensure an enjoyable experience. Violations of this Code may result in expulsion without refund and potential loss of future participation privileges. Reports of misconduct can be made to festival staff directly or via info@gcuff.org, with emergencies requiring immediate law enforcement contact. By engaging with the GCUFF, participants agree to uphold these standards, contributing to a positive, enriching festival environment for all.
Event Participation and Content
Authorization of User's Image and Likeness: When you participate in any Greater Cleveland Urban Film Foundation (GCUFF) event, you grant the organization and its designees the unconditional right to capture and utilize your image, likeness, voice, and actions in any form of media. This includes, but is not limited to, photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, and digital media. These captures may be used for various purposes, such as promotional materials, advertising, documentation, and other commercial or non-commercial uses related to the event or the GCUFF's mission without the need for further approval from you or any compensation to you.

This authorization is comprehensive and applies to all forms of media and distribution methods now known or hereafter devised. It extends to our use of your image and likeness in promotional materials, live streams, webcasts, broadcasts, public displays, and publications both online and in print. By attending the event, you willingly participate in the event's productions and acknowledge your consent for your image and likeness to be used in this manner.

Ownership and Use of Event's Intellectual Property: The GCUFF retains full ownership of all intellectual property rights related to the event, including but not limited to, the event name, logos, branding, marketing materials, recorded media content (photos, videos, audio), and any digital assets created for or during the event. This ownership extends to the creative content generated during the event, such as recordings of performances, talks, and presentations.

Event attendees, members, and participants are not permitted to use the GCUFF's intellectual property for their own purposes without explicit, written permission from the GCUFF. This includes reproducing, distributing, broadcasting, or creating derivative works based on the event's intellectual property for commercial or personal gain. The intent behind this policy is to protect the integrity and brand of the GCUFF, ensuring that its content and identity are used in a manner that aligns with its mission and values.

No Live Audio, Video Streaming, or Broadcasts: The GCUFF expressly prohibits the unauthorized live streaming, broadcasting, or transmitting of any audio or video from the event. This includes, but is not limited to, internet streaming, social media live feeds, podcasts, radio, or television broadcasts. The restriction is in place to protect the copyright and intellectual property rights of the event and its participants, as well as to control the distribution of its content.

Exceptions to this policy may be granted on a case-by-case basis, requiring prior written approval from the GCUFF. Approval will be contingent upon a detailed proposal that outlines the nature of the broadcast, distribution methods, and how it aligns with the GCUFF's mission and interests. Unauthorized broadcasts, live streams, or transmissions will be subject to legal action to enforce the GCUFF's intellectual property rights and to protect its participants and content.

By adhering to these terms, you support the GCUFF's efforts to create a respectful, lawful, and positive environment that celebrates and promotes the richness of Black culture through cinema.
